私の作品は、木彫という伝統的な技法を用い、仏像や日本の神々をモチーフにしながら、現代的なエロスをテーマに制作しています。エロスとは単なる官能ではなく、人間が持つ「美への憧れ」であり、それは国境や文化、性別を超えて普遍的に共有される感情だと考えています。古代の仏像や土偶の造形にエロスの普遍性を見出し、そこに秘められた美への希求や人間の欲求を取り入れることで、歴史性と現代性を掛け合わせた新しい表現を追求しています。

　具体的には、歴史的な要素から着想を得て、ハイヒールやラテックスドレスなどのフェティッシュな現代ファッションをまとった官能的な女性像として具現化することで、時代や国、性別を超えて共鳴する「美への憧れ」を形にしています。また、過去と現在、神聖と俗、普遍性と特殊性といった一見対極にある要素を融合させることで、身近でありながら未知の感覚を持つ新たな美を生み出すことを目指しています。

　私はしばしば二体一対の作品を制作します。これは立体作品の空間性を際立たせると同時に、二つの間にある「目に見えない空間」から物語を想像してもらうためです。たとえば、俵屋宗達の風神雷神図屏風や寺社の金剛力士像のように、双対の作品は始まりと終わり、表と裏、生と死、静と動といった対極的な要素をつなぐ「間」を生み出します。この「間」にこそ、人々が自身の内面と向き合い、新たな物語を紡ぐ可能性が広がっていると感じています。

　現代の世界は、さまざまな正義や価値観によって分断されていますが、多くの人が求める平和や自由、平等、正義は、お互いの間に存在する調和の中にこそ生まれるのではないでしょうか。異なる視点を受け入れ、正反対の価値観を試みることが、新しい物語を生むきっかけになると信じています。それがたとえ幻想のように思えても、アートを通じて物語を紡ぎ続けることで、未来に変化をもたらす可能性があると信じています。

　私の作品が、こうした感性や物語を多くの人々と共有し、さまざまな隔たりを超えて人々の心に届く一助となることを願っています。

My work involves creating wooden sculptures using traditional techniques, focusing on themes of modern Eros while drawing inspiration from Buddhist statues and Japanese deities. Eros, as I see it, is not merely about sensuality but represents a universal "yearning for beauty" that transcends national borders, cultures, and genders. By discovering the universality of Eros in ancient Buddhist statues and figurines, and incorporating the hidden longing for beauty and human desires they embody, I aim to blend historical and contemporary elements to create a unique form of expression.

Specifically, I draw from historical motifs to create sensual female figures adorned with fetishistic modern fashion elements such as high heels and latex dresses. These works attempt to express a "yearning for beauty" that resonates across time, countries, and gender boundaries. Furthermore, by merging seemingly opposing elements—such as the sacred and the profane, the universal and the specific, the past and the present—I strive to evoke a sense of familiarity paired with the unknown, ultimately giving birth to new aesthetic experiences.

I often create paired sculptures, which emphasize the spatial dynamics of three-dimensional art while inviting viewers to imagine narratives within the "invisible space" between them. For instance, like Tawaraya Sotatsu's Fujin Raijin-zu Byobu or the guardian Kongorikishi statues at temple gates, dual works create a "space" that connects opposites such as beginning and end, front and back, life and death, stillness and motion. It is within this space that viewers can discover their own stories, delving into unseen dimensions and untapped possibilities.

In today’s world, divisions based on differing notions of justice and values are increasingly apparent. However, I believe that the peace, freedom, equality, and justice many of us seek can only be found in the harmony that exists in the spaces between opposing forces. By embracing different perspectives and exploring opposing values, new narratives can emerge. Even if these stories might seem like fantasies, I believe that weaving them through art has the power to spark change in the future.

I hope my work can serve as a bridge to share such sensibilities and narratives, reaching across various divides to resonate deeply with people’s emotions and imaginations.
